The Institute of Pastoral Studies (IPS) educates adults for professional ministry, spiritual development, and faith-based leadership in diverse professions. Through their course of study, personal integration, and spiritual formation, students develop real-world knowledge and skills in theological reflection, ministerial practice, and ethical judgment.

Qualifying Programs for NACC Certification
The following programs satisfy the academic prerequisites for initial certification.
Board Certified Chaplain (BCC, BCC-VA)
- MA in Pastoral Studies – Four Concentrations:
- MAPS – Church Management Concentration
- MAPS – Digital Communication Concentration
- MAPS – Health Care Chaplaincy Concentration (Recommended concentration for chaplaincy)
- MAPS – Religious Education Concentration
- MA in Christian Spirituality
- MDiv (Master of Divinity)
Certified Associate Chaplain (CAC)
- Above degree programs
- The 15-credit IPS Graduate Certificate Programs may partially satisfy graduate credit equivalency requirements for CAC Certification. Contact the NACC for more details.
