Overview and Objectives
Technology has become so much a part of our daily lives but how do we effectively incorporate it into the work of professional chaplaincy? This webinar will start by looking at effectively using video calling and virtual meetings to promote patient and family connections and support. It will then explore using digital tools and images to support various patient populations including those with dementia. It will also discuss ways to work with hospital systems to ensure these tools are used in compliance with policies and laws.

As a result of this webinar, participants will:

• Learn how to effectively incorporate technology into the work of chaplaincy and explore effective methods to use video calling and virtual meetings to support patient care
• Explore the use of digital imagery and tools to support various patient populations
• Understand methods to work within hospital systems when using technology

Presenter Information
Ben Schaefer M.Div., BCC serves as a Manager of Spiritual Care for Ascension Michigan. Leading chaplains at 13 sites of care. His chaplaincy work prior to management was focused on trauma/ICU and palliative care. He also serves at the convenor of the spiritual care management network for Transforming Chaplaincy. He has served as a chaplain for the past 17 years in various settings including healthcare and higher education. He is a Board Certified Chaplain through the Association of Professional Chaplains. In his free time he enjoys time with family, especially out in nature and woodworking.
