We are seeking a compassionate Chaplain or Catholic Priest to provide spiritual support to patients, families, and staff. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, a deep spiritual understanding, sensitivity to diverse beliefs, and the ability to offer comfort in challenging times. A Master’s degree in Divinity, Theology, or a related field is required. Priest chaplains must have diocese endorsement or approval from their Religious Superior. Board-Certified Chaplain status (or the ability to obtain certification within 24 months) is required. Flexible hours, including nights and weekends, are necessary. Spanish-speaking skills are a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Assess spiritual distress, provide appropriate interventions to patients and families, and document outcomes.
- Offer pastoral care to healthcare workers and volunteers as needed.
- Oversee the chapel and pastoral care offices 24/7, dispatching chaplains or volunteers as necessary.
- Serve as a liaison to area clergy and plan religious services.
- Recruit, train, and provide continuing education for Volunteer Chaplain Aides.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care rounds and committees, offering guidance on religious and spiritual issues.
Job Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in parish, institutional ministry, or pastoral care administration.
- Education and training sufficient to meet faith group criteria for professional ministry (typically an MDiv degree).
- One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education or comparable clinical training is preferred.
- 70 hours of continuing education per year is expected.
- Board Certification in Clinical Chaplaincy is preferred.
